GRE - Gauff Rail Engineering GmbH & Co. KG was commissioned by DB ProjektBau GmbH, Dresden in 2012 with the overall planning for the renewal of the Olzmannstraße crossing, the dismantling of bridges that were no longer required and the associated track plan rationalisation in Zwickau station.

In Zwickau, Olzmannstraße crosses the railway lines 6258 Dresden Hbf - Abzw Werdau Bogendreieck, 6275 Zwickau (Sachs) Hbf - Lichtentanne (Sachs) and 6650 Zwickau (Sachs) Hbf - Falkenstein (Vogtl) in the area of the goods and marshalling yard.

Due to the structural condition of the existing railway overpasses, their new construction is imperative. All existing two-span bridge superstructures will be dismantled and replaced by four single-span bridges, some of them multi-track. In the area of no longer needed tracks, cut slopes will be created between the bridges.

The construction of the new replacement bridges will be carried out using the "rolled girder in concrete" construction method with box abutments. Due to the several metre thick silty fillings, the foundations are to be built using large-diameter drilled piles with a diameter of 1.20 m in the existing mudstone layers.
