Description

The Leipzig - Dresden extension line is Germany's first long-distance railway line. As part of the 1992 Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan, it is being upgraded for high-speed traffic as part of the German Unity Transport Projects (VDE 9).

The section of the line worked on by GRE from Zeithain Bogendreieck (a) to Leckwitz (a) includes 2 level crossings, 2 traffic stations and a goods station. As part of the construction project, the level crossings with other traffic routes will be dissolved, traffic stations renewed, an overtaking track laid in the railway station and modern safety and telecommunication technology installed. The engineering structures (bridges and culverts) are being renewed and extensive noise protection measures are being implemented along the line.

After completion of the construction measures, the travel time in the section of line was reduced by approx. 12 minutes by increasing the line speed to 200 km/h.

  • Planning section of line 6363 Zeithain Bogendreieck (a) - Leckwitz (a) of VDE 9, km 70.800 - km 79.050 (line length: 8.250 km)
  • Route category: M 230
  • Route category: D 4
  • Design speed: 200 km/h
  • Conversion/extension to ESTW technology
  • Renewal of 2 traffic stations
  • 2 overpass removal measures according to EKrG §§3,13
  • Bridge structures: new construction or renewal of 6 railway overpasses and 1 road overpass
  • Construction of 4 noise barriers
