Description

As a result of the merging of the former two German states, the federal government created the "German Unity" transport project. The extension and new construction of the railway connection from Munich via Nuremberg to Erfurt and on via Leipzig/Halle to Berlin made a significant contribution to reducing travel times on this route. It should be emphasised that the realisation of the S-Bahn line from Nuremberg to Forchheim is integrated into this project. In addition to the expansion of an important international transit route, this will also considerably improve local transport connections between the cities of Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen, Forchheim and the settlement areas in between.
