Dorsch Gruppe wins competition for prestigious mega urban planning project in Qatar

Dorsch Gruppe has been awarded a consultancy services contract for a prestigious mega urban planning project in Qatar on March 21st 2012.

As announced recently by the the state-controlled developer Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC), Dorsch Gruppe won the competition for the site construction supervision consultancy services of Lusail City in Doha and will supervise eleven (11) different construction packages in different engineering disciplines. Dorsch Gruppe was able to succeed over various international competitors.  Qatar’s LREDC is a subsidiary of the state-owned Diar enterprise which, in addition to other major projects, is also responsible for the complete new development of the railway and local traffic infrastructure in Qatar. Lusail goes beyond the usual concept of a modern city; it is, in fact, a futuristic reflection of wonderful aspirations, technologies and ideas. Simultaneously, Lusail is characterised by a rich history that captures the authentic heritage and values of the remarkable Qatari culture. Through Lusail City Qatar started Doha’s city expansion and thus a unique project in the Arab world.

The complete Lusail City will cost approx. 45 billion US dollars and will be built in the Northeast of Doha on a currently hardly developed desert area of approx. 38 square kilometers. The area runs seven kilometers along the coast and up to five kilometers inland. It is planned that at some time in the future Lusail City will accommodate more than 200,000 residents, 170,000 employees and 80,000 visitors so that the total estimated population of Lusail will eventually reach 450,000 people who should live, work and spend their holidays in this area. Its completion is ensured on time to provide its services dedicated to hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“We will supervise the project locally with our on-site experts from our Doha office”, said Olaf Hoffmann, CEO of the Dorsch Gruppe. Their key competence is to offer comprehensive planning and management services all from one source. “Our international experience and strong regional presence make us the ideal partner to meet this challenge. This will give us very good chances to gain further ambitious assignments and to grow in the future”, said Ayman Haikal, responsible manager for Dorsch’s operation in Qatar.
