Description

The Weißeritztalbahn, which was largely destroyed by the extreme flood of the century in August 2002, was completely rebuilt with funding from the federal government and the state of Saxony. The reconstruction was carried out in three construction lots, whereby the sections less affected by the flood were also repaired. The superstructure and civil engineering of the section were completely renewed. The engineering structures were repaired or replaced by new structures, depending on the degree of damage and in consideration of flood protection. Furthermore, modernisation measures were carried out in the area of the level crossings and the technical line equipment.

Technical parameters

  • Track gauge 750 mm (narrow gauge)
  • 4 bridges, 21 supporting structures
  • Section length 7520 m
