Description

The operator of the transshipment station - Deutsche Umschlaggesellschaft Schiene - Straße (DUSS) mbH - ordered the expansion of the facility from DB Netz AG.

With the existing two modules and three cranes each, the Cologne Eifeltor transhipment station can no longer cope with the current high forecast traffic volume. Therefore, the extension by a third module became necessary.

The connection to the DB AG railway network is in a northerly direction. In this context, four train formation tracks and further track facilities were newly built in the area of the Cologne Eifeltor marshalling yard.

To achieve a useful track length of 700 m, also in the 2nd module, this module was extended in a southerly direction.

  • New construction of 8 points (northern and southern connection)
  • New construction of crane runways IIIa and IIIb and extension of crane runways IIa and IIb
  • Installation of 2 gantry cranes
  • New construction of 4 handling tracks, extension of the handling tracks in the 2nd module
  • Construction of new parking areas, driving and loading lanes, access and exit areas
  • Construction of floodlight and lighting masts
  • Adaptation and renewal of the power installations and overhead line system
  • Construction of cable routes
  • Construction of new drainage systems for track and road drainage
  • Renewal of a level crossing protection system
  • Relocation of 2 oil pipelines
